| Commemoration of the African Scientific Revival Day |
|
The African Scientific Day is an annual event dedicated to deliberating on the role of science and technology (S&T) in addressing socio-economic challenges in Africa. The African Policy Studies Network (ATPS) Uganda Chapter has been at the forefront of popularizing this day in Uganda. The ATPS uses such a forum to provide national discourse about the strategies required to harness science, technology and innovation (STI) through evidence-based policy relevant advocacy and dialogue. The ATPS therefore involves the quadruple helix which includes the researchers, civil society organizations, policy makers and practitioners to provide a forum for stakeholders to consider what is required to move from STI policy to action. In this regard, the ATPS Network in collaboration with the Uganda National Council for Science and Technology commemorated the African Scientific Revival Day (ASRD) under the theme, āStrengthening Linkages between Policy Research and Policy Making for Ugandan Developmentā on Thursday 8th December 2011, at 5.00 p.m., at the Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala, Uganda. This meeting reflected on how research and policy making can be linked to enhance evidenced-based decision making and STI led growth. For enquiries contact: |
