Active Grants Call: Strengthening Uptake and Utilisation of Research Results in the Manufacturing Sector through Public- Private Partnerships

Friday, 5th May 2023

The funding opportunity has been designed to break the barriers to the uptake and application of research for economic and social development by facilitating universities and research institutes to be the champions of the process of translating outputs of their research (e.g. new technologies, prototypes, new business models) into products and services in the market place. To achieve this, PPP grants will fund research and innovation activities involving collaborations between universities and research institutes with other actors who are not their traditional partners (particularly, the private sector) to devise means of achieving market products in manufacturing value chains of; i. Agro processing to promote import substitution and export expansion of high value products. ii. Footwear and other finished leather products manufacturing to support SMEs to respond to both local and international demand. iii. Green Energy options to increase access to and consumption of clean energy in Uganda to be considered for funding. Each proposal will be funded at a value of up to Uganda Shillings 175,000,000 for research projects that will be implemented for a period not exceeding 24 months. Click to View Details
